Hello, my lovelies hope you are well and how are you gearing up for Christmas and the new year? I just want to come here and share my thoughts on an important topic which I personally think it is needs to be discussed especially now that the festive period is around the corner.
Let us talk about confidence for a minute, shall we! In this modern day and age, a lot of us are not fully confident in ourselves or in what we do sometimes and I am here to tell you that it is fine to not be confidence all the time. We are humans and we have our highs and low so if you are not confidence now doesn’t mean you won’t be in the future you just have to work towards it. I was not confident in myself until I turned 26 years old, I felt my life wasn’t where I wanted it to be. And maybe its because I didn’t know what my purpose is in life, who I am as an individual, what I aspiration is and what I want to achieve in life. Finding yourself is not an easy journey at all, when you are in your early 20’s you find yourself saying you want to do this and that at a certain age. You get to that age and you are not even close to what you said you want to achieve so you start to doubt yourself and your decision and lack of self-esteem starts creeping in.
First thing you should ask yourself is who am I as an individual and what are my values and morals? When you have answers to all this question then journey to self -restoration and confidence begins. And it is fine to have people who truly love you help you figure things out. It is okay to have a therapist or life coach if you can afford it, as it a journey and you need help to figure it out. I am so lucky to have my family and partner as my rock and I can tell them anything I am going through and they are there to give me their advice or critic to figuring it out.
Through this I start to realize that confidence commands authority. You want to walk into a room and make head turns, make people smile at you either if it is fake or genuine but who cares a smile is a smile abi (means right in Yoruba)!
Trust me when you are confident in yourself and you know who you truly are nobody in this world can derail you from your truth. You get to chose what you want to digest and what to reject from what you see on social media or what you hear from people in your personal life.
A confidence woman knows she can walk this life alone without depending on a man, friends or whoever other than God to provide for them. If you don’t know that you have authority on the planet earth trust me the world will swallow you and you don’t want to wake up too late. I see a lot of young youth committing suicide or living the fast life to get to where they want to so quickly and they end up being depressed. As far as I am concerned it all boils down to the confidence they have in themselves as an individual. Do not let anyone make you lower your standard just to accommodate them into your space and vice versa.
We are going into the new year and if you are lacking in terms of your confidence or self-esteem I plead with you to work on it and fix it. I know it is easier said than done but I truly believe you can do it just takes a lot of hard work and the start of the journey is as simple as believing in who you are as a person and your goals. Ignore that negative voice in your head and just keep going and also focusing on your strength is key and surrounding yourself with people who genuinely love and believe in you.
On that note have a wonderful Christmas and New year.
